brian mclaren is sitting next to me as i type, on a couch in the lobby of a hotel in mendoza, argentina. he spoke at the international youth workers convention this morning, on the difference between a domesticated gospel and a revolutionary gospel. and, impressively, he did about 1/3 of his talk in spanish (using a translator for the other portions). there’s an aritcle about brian on the front page of the washington post today.

My regards to Brian as well. This is the first report of any kind I’ve seen on his current trip, and I would love to hear more.

It is encouraging that mainstream media find this loose network/movement of which Brian is probably the best known public figure important enough to publish such a front page story.

Maybe some folks who have been turned off by their experiences with or just the reputation of the institutional church will be inspired by the article to check out Brian’s books and maybe Cedar Ridge (or some other church they succeed in locating that would be more in line with what the article was saying). Certainly we’d be glad to welcome them at Cedar Ridge!

I would love to hang out with Brian - so much of what he has written resonates with what I have been wondering and thinking about … God’s given him a gift with words (apparently spanish ones, too)!
